The Food Composition Database for Epidemiological Studies in Italy (BDA) can be consulted and downloaded free of charge. The consultation interface is linked to a database containing indicative data on the composition of some food items. The BDA’s aim is to make the search for information within the database easier, quicker and more user-friendly.

All the data in the Food Composition Database for Epidemiological Studies in Italy (BDA)website (www.bda-ieo.it) – are under copyright according to the 6th May 1999 Legislative Decree No. 169 – “Implementation of the directive 96/9/CE relating to the legal protection of databases” published in the Official Gazette No. 138 dated 15th June 1999, and according to the European Union Directive 2001/29 “on the harmonisation of certain aspects of copyright and related rights in the information society” dated 22nd May 2001.

Data can be employed for commercial use only upon written authorization by the BDA Group. The BDA Group reserves the right to make any claim – via the most appropriate body – for any damage against those who are deemed to be in breach of the terms and conditions of usage of the database.

Use of the BDA – even for non-commercial use – must be made with a clear indication regarding the origin of the data.
