The consultation interface is connected to a database containing indicative data on dietary composition. Its aim is to make the search for information within the BDA database easier, quicker and more user-friendly.

BDA users agree to the following terms and conditions:

  • Food composition data tend to rapidly change and become outdated and obsolete. It is therefore not possible to know exactly the composition of a certain food item also due to the great variability between the different food samples.
  • In general, the source of every single item of data has been quoted. We apologise in advance for any possible omission users may find.
  • The data contained in the BDA can be adopted particularly for nutritional evaluations on large population groups. On the other hand, for more precise assessment of food intake on an individual level, more detailed and direct analyses on the consumed food are necessary.
  • Data cannot be employed for commercial use only without written authorization by the BDA Group.
  • When making use of the BDA – even for non-commercial use – the origin of the data should be clearly indicated. For complete and correct citation of the BDA, please refer to the section on Copyrights in this website.
  • The BDA Group does not assume any responsibility in case of inappropriate use of the data or in case of incorrect application of the nutrients in dietary calculation or similar evaluations. As a consequence, users will not be able to make any claim against the BDA Group for any moral or material damage deriving from any use of the data contained in the Food Composition Database for Epidemiological Studies in Italy.
  • The BDA Group reserves the right to make any claim– via the most appropriate body – for any damage against those who are deemed to be in breach of the present terms and conditions of usage of the database.
  • All the data in the Food Composition Database for Epidemiological Studies in Italy (BDA) which are present in the BDA website (www.bda-ieo.it) are under copyright according to the 6th May 1999 Legislative Decree No. 169 – “Implementation of the directive 96/9/CE relating to the juridical custody of databases” published in the Official Gazette No. 138 dated 15th June 1999, and according to the European Union Directive 2001/29 “on the harmonisation of certain aspects of copyright and related rights in the information society” dated 22nd May 2001.
